Presenters:
Matthew Yoxall – (Drama for Training and Development)
Matt is a drama and theatre practitioner. His background is in drama training and community outreach, particularly in museums when based in the UK. Since 2003 he has been working in the Mekong sub-region largely with international organisations, NGOs, and community based groups in developing drama and theatre based programmes for information giving, outreach, and participatory approaches to training and development. He will be introducing some background to his work, and some of the simple but valuable tools he uses within the processes he delivers.
Caitlin Mckimm- (Community Music)
Caitlin is a community development practitioner, musician and audio technician. She is passionately interested in the ways in which music can facilitate community development processes, particularly when working with youth. Caitlin has been working with small grassroots NGO’s in northern Thailand and on the Thai-Burma border since 2005, and has been involved in a variety of projects with a community music and youth development focus. She will be sharing an overview of this work, and some insights from her experiences.
Felicia Low (Visual Artist in Singapore)
Felicia is a visual artist who is interested in the areas of New Genre Public Art and Community Cultural Development in Singapore. She has collaborated with various communities in creating visual arts projects and programmes towards personal and community development. She will be presenting about her recent work at a children’s home and will talk about some factors artists may wish to think about before embarking on visual arts projects with children or youth.
