Project DanceEdge (PDE) is a social intervention dance training programme initiated by Arts Fission with a two-year grant from MCYS. It was launched in April 2007 in partnerships with *SCAPE and participating VWOs like Boys Town, Beyond Social Services, and Singapore Children Society.
The mission of PDE is to enable disadvantaged youths to learn about themselves through dance. For these young people who are literally living on the edge, the discipline of physical dance training helps to channel their listless energy into positive direction with a clear focus.
PDE curriculum is specially designed for youths aged 8 to 18 and aims to empower these young people into confident individuals with an open and positive outlook of life.
Each PDE year culminates with a public cohort showcase choreographed by the trainers from Arts Fission. In 2008 PDE participants took part in a ticketed public performance at the Esplanade Theatre Studio and in 2009 performed in open fundraising events at the Heeren organized by *SCAPE.
