The Y-Stars

18 Aug 2013 • Collaborations • Person-Centered Arts Practice

A group of teenagers and young adults with Down’s Syndrome and other intellectual challenges, who share a passion for visual and performing arts.

The Y-Stars are a group of teenagers and young adults with Down’s Syndrome and other intellectual challenges, who share a common passion for visual and performing arts. Organized by their dedicated parents, this group of 20 meet every Saturday at the CCD Studio in Goodman Arts Centre to ‘chill’ out with their friends, dance aka exercise and release the ‘Picasso’ in them.

Through public dance performances and art exposure, they create better awareness and understanding of persons with special needs. They also aim to subsidize their living expenses through the sale of art pieces.

The Y-Stars held an art exhibition at Goodman Arts Centre in 2012. Click here to view their work!
