A Decade of Theatre For Seniors (The Necessary Stage): A Report Presentation by Dr. Felicia Low

Why engage with the arts in later life? Alvin Tan and members of the Theatre for Seniors programme, by The Necessary Stage; together with The Glowers Drama Group and Ageless Theatre presented alongside Dr. Felicia Low to present on a Decade of Theatre For Seniors.

Theatre for Seniors (TFS), organised by The Necessary Stage, has made theatre practice available to seniors over the past 10 years. Over 2019-2022, Applied Arts Researcher Dr. Felicia Low conducted interviews with facilitators and members of TFS, to understand better how theatre in later life can enable growth towards personal and collective maturity and health, through aspects of innovation and aesthetics.

Written based on the person-centered framework for arts practices with communities, this presentation brought together the researcher, TNS, TFS members, The Glowers Drama Group and Ageless Theatre to share and discuss the significance of the arts engagement in later life.
